Architectural Beauty: Developing a Measurable and Objective Scale

After decades of being ignored, the concept beauty, as understood by non-architect, has recently been making a comeback in architecture, not so much practice itself, appeals for design solutions that are more human-centered and dictated abstract principles. Architectural beauty needs to be evaluated from its effects on human health. This study discusses two diagnostic tools measuring degree architectural “beauty” presents results pilot application one them. The goal is use imaging evaluations. Analytical elements introduced disciplines with which practitioners normally familiar, such artificial intelligence, medicine, neuroscience, visual attention image-processing software, etc. In addition tools, this paper ties related ideas objective into novel synthesis. These support idea feasible, “objective” way evaluate what users will consider beautiful, set stage an upcoming larger quantitatively correlate methods.
